BioI was reading in some book and found a description of how computer programmers are, in many ways, the 'wizards' of the future. Instead of scribing archaic runes from musty tomes onto vellum or parchment scrolls using exotic inks, we spend hours to days sitting at the keyboard hammering out sections of computer code. It is hard not to be impressed by the accomplishments that have been made with computers. Computer Generated Imaging and games like Final Fantasy XI or World of Warcraft can immerse a person in a whole new reality for a time. We are the mages of the future, whose medium has changed from magic to technology. We are the Techwizards.
When I'm not busy exploring alternate realities, I am usually in the business of creating my own. I am a computer game developer. I'm a huge fan of fantasy games, and also sci-fi and strategy games. I especially love games that tell a story, like RPG's, though I'm not opposed to a bit of mindless first person shoot-em-up every now and again.
So yeah, obviously games are a large part of my life. And not just computer games! Card games, board games, roleplaying games, guessing games, dice-based games, games of chance, games of skill, and even sports or other outside activities. All very enjoyable in their own ways! You can learn a lot about a person by what they play and the way they play it. It's entertainment, it's a social activity ... heck, in some cases it's educational or good exercise. Games have existed since the dawning of time. If you look back into some of the oldest cultures, I'm sure you'll find a game or two. Games are primal. Heck, even animals play games. Just watch a pair of puppies wrestling with each other on the floor, or young horses chasing each other across a field, or a group of sea otters dancing through the water around each other. You'll see what I mean.
Oh wait, I'm supposed to talk about myself here? Ummmm .. kay. I like games. I also like books, art, music, dancing, playing guitar, archery, cooking ... pretty much anything. Mostly I like to keep to myself, but when I am social I can be a lot of fun. I'm straight, single, and not actively looking. I have a dangerous tendency to fall into one-sided romances, which has led me to be cautious in matters of the heart. Currently I am trying to build a stable life for myself, which at the moment means looking at buying a house.
Oh yeah! I have a deviantART account, too. Mostly written works there, and it's not really active anymore. My writings recently have been exploring ... other avenues lately.
